About Fostering
Many applicants have been considering fostering for some time before making the move to find out more. We know it is a big decision – but we know it is worth it – fostering really can make a great difference for children and young people. At SWIIS we believe that the training and support we provide can enable you to do a really good job and play a key role in creating the best opportunities for children and young people.
Do you have?
- Time, energy and enthusiasm for children and their interests
- A spare room in your home
- An understanding that it can take a long time for hurt children to respond and that things may not always be easy
- A flexible approach, adaptable attitude and the ability to work in a team
- A positive outlook and ability to be pleased with small steps forward
- Strong family or support networks
- At least one adult in the household available full time (i.e. not working)
- Respect for individuality and diversity and a willingness to speak up for young people’s rights
- Willingness to learn from your own and other people’s experiences and to attend regular training
You don’t need to be married or have a big house. What matters is your skills, personality and ability to understand what young people are going through - and how you could help.
If this sounds like you: now’s the time to do it !..
