Divisions - About West Midlands

The West Midlands region offers placements to children and young people predominantly from the 14 local authorities in the West Midlands Child Care Consortium.  In December 2005 we moved from our original office base is in central Birmingham to bigger and more appropriate premises in Edgbaston.  Click here for details and map

Since the agency started in 2000, we have recruited and approved over 70 new fostering families and provided placements for children and young people with a wide range of needs and from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.  SWIIS West Midlands carers currently look after 100 children ranging in age from babies to older teenagers and our placements include many sibling groups.  Specialist services including mother and baby placements and assessment packages are also available.

Our multidisciplinary team includes experienced social workers, teachers, health and child resource workers who provide support to both carers and young people to ensure all their assessed needs are addressed.  Our children's resource workers have an expertise in life-story work and this is offered where appropriate as part of the care package.
