SWIIS Tutoring Service is a professional service which provides home tutors to work with Looked After Children. We work closely with SWIIS Foster Care to ensure our tutors have a full understanding of working with Looked After Children.
The principle aim of this service is to assist local authorities to raise attainment levels and promote achievement at all levels of educational ability of children in the care system. We are committed to narrowing the educational gap between children in care and their peers and encouraging Looked After Children to have high aspirations.

The process of identification and selection of children and young people who require our services will be managed by Local Authority LAC Education Teams in conjunction with Local Authority Social Workers.
The tutors will be carefully matched to the children /
young people, taking into account the needs of each
individual child. Each tutor will liaise with school staff
to ensure a co-ordinated approach and will provide
interesting lessons, thereby motivating and engaging
the young people.
The service will be closely monitored by the SWIIS
Tutoring Manager to supervise and evaluate the work
provided by tutors and to ensure positive outcomes.
The Children and Young Persons views would be part of
this process.
